Every Conversations room can now be practiced with a cast that speaks one of ten languages, with the Coach staying in English.

ForeverLearning AI has released a new version of Conversations, its practice environment for the conversations people find hardest. The cast in every room now speaks the language the learner chooses, a new Language practice shelf brings everyday conversations to people learning a language, and 24 new rooms take the catalogue to 100. Since October 3, anyone can create a free account and try any room free for its first few turns, with no credit card required.

The cast speaks ten languages

A learner picks the language before a conversation starts or changes it mid-conversation, in any of the 100 rooms and in open practice: English, Spanish, French, French for Canada, German, Italian, Portuguese for Brazil, Japanese, Korean, or Mandarin Chinese. Every persona keeps their own voice in every language, and the learner sets how simply the cast speaks: Simple, Everyday, or Natural.

Only the cast changes language. The Coach, the room brief, and the debrief stay in English. The learner sets the microphone to listen in the cast language or in any other offered language, and typing accepts anything.

A shelf for practicing in the language you are learning

The new Language practice shelf holds twelve everyday rooms, from ordering at the counter and asking for directions to keeping up in a fast group conversation and disputing a charge on a bill. Each room is written once and played in any of the ten languages. In these rooms the Coach stays in English, tells the learner what was said when they lose the thread, and offers one phrase to try next.

Twelve more rooms for the mechanics of everyday conversation

Twelve new rooms in the existing shelves practice the parts of a conversation that are easy to get wrong and rarely rehearsed: pinning down a vague instruction, small talk before a meeting, getting a word in, ending a conversation that will not end, turning down an invitation, a phone call with unexpected questions, and asking for a pause in an argument. Two new people, a server and a front-desk clerk, join the cast of 52.

The controls return, and the titles say what the room is

The challenge, the emotional heat, and the Coach's style can now be changed at any time from Room settings, alongside the language, with every room starting at the defaults its author chose. Thirty-one rooms have been retitled so that a visitor can tell from the title alone what conversation they would practice and with whom.

Feedback stays tied to the moment

Every practice ends with the same three levels of feedback. The Coach reflects on a specific turn while its context is still clear. A debrief returns to the conversation as a whole. Across practices, Insights shows what repeats. Every piece of feedback points back to a moment in the room.

“People do not practice a hard conversation in a vacuum, and they do not all practice it in English. The room now speaks the language you are learning, or the one you live in, and the Coach stays with you in English.”
